All I want(ed) for Christmas is....

Happy Thursday!  As you can see, I am trying to make the most of my Christmas vacation by getting things done for school that I can't seem to find time to do when school is in session.  The first thing on my list was to create a blog in order to keep the parents of my students updated as to what was happening in our classroom.  We did so many exciting activities before Christmas, and my hope is to post some pictures of those activities soon.  One of our class jobs is the Class Photographer, so that person's job is going to be even more important now that we have a class blog!

I have had a huge technology wish list for some time now, and I am happy to report that one of the biggest wishes on that list has come true!  I have written four grants within the last two years, three of which were written with the end result of getting an interactive whiteboard in mind.  The first grant was for a new laptop, and I was awarded that through a generous anonymous donor at Donor's Choose.  The second grant I wrote was from OEF, and I was awarded a wireless projector.  The final grant I wrote was from the PTO and I was awarded a new interactive whiteboard!!!!  Some of you may have heard of these by the name of SMART board.  "SMART board is the brand name of one interactive whiteboard, just as Kleenex is the brand name for one kind of tissue."  (L. Elliott, Teach Like a Techie)  I am currently waiting for the interactive whiteboard software to be loaded on my laptop and my projector and board to be installed so that I can "play around" with the technology and prepare some really fun, educational, and interactive lessons for my first grade friends!

Thanks for reading, and have a very Happy New Year!
